Bookkeeping and financials for a garage door company
Most garage door owners know the bank balance and the number of jobs this week. Few know the gross margin on a spring job versus a new door, what marketing costs per booked job by channel, or whether January covered August. Without a monthly profit and loss, every marketing decision is a guess and every vendor can claim it worked.
The mistake is doing the books once a year for the tax preparer, with fuel, the supply house account and ad spend all in one "expenses" line. By then the slow months have happened and the expensive campaign has run for ten months.
After two weeks, working means the current month categorized, a clean profit and loss with marketing broken out by channel, revenue split between repair and installs, and a first cost per booked job you can hold against the ads.
